Black and White Lilies, late 1920s
Imogen was drawn to the Calla Lilies, which she began photographing after arriving in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1917. Many of her great Calla photographs were taken out in the garden, in natural light. She often brought a simple backdrop to place behind the flower to simplify the image.
